Devnet
Devnet came into being on 21 st November, 1996 after persistent effort for almost two years. It was a proud moment and is still a proud moment for all of us in Devnet for a couple of reasons. The first reason is the obvious one – of being recognized by the Government as a responsible organization. Now we were ready to take serious assignments with the Government as well as national and international organizations. The second one is of course the ethical reason – the registration was achieved fairly, without use of unethical or unscrupulous means.
In the last two decades much water has flown under the bridge and the organization has seen its lows and highs. Many young individuals with an inclination towards the social sector joined the ranks with Devnet, contributing to the objectives and in the process they also empowered themselves in the sector. Quite in tune with our philosophy, many have left to take up new challenges with other agencies, both national and international. The organization forged ahead, and in the process welcomed new partnerships and at the same time strengthened old ones. A major transformation for the organization started around 2005-06, when we took a conscious step of entering the field of project implementation. The transformation from a specialized training unit to an implementing organisation has been a learning curve. In fact, when we took up project implementation, we were involved so deeply, intensely and hectically that it was akin to learning to swim when thrown into deep waters. Nevertheless we can proudly claim that we today stand as a very competent Organization that can efficiently take up large projects and deliver what is required. We take pride in whatever we do and give it our best. In the year 2015, we successfully completed the big budget UNICEF supported project of menstrual hygiene among adolescent girls. New frontiers were explored with UNICEF during this year as Devnet in alliance with four other like minded NGOs partnered UNICEF in community mobilization and monitoring of Vitamin A rounds in Hard to Reach Areas of Jharkhand. Then onwards, we have taken up other projects, including running of cluster facilitating teams for improving the functioning of Mahatma Gandhi Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS).
Devnet is registered as a Society under the Societies Registration Act. It is also registered as a charity under the Income Tax Act and is eligible to receive foreign contribution under Foreign Contribution Regulation Act.
We currently function in two districts of Jharkhand viz. East Singhbhum and Bokaro.
