About VB Net Foundation

VB Net Foundation (VBN) is a not-for-profit company promoted by NGOs working in Jharkhand. It was registered under Section 8 of the Companies Act, 2013 on 28th November 2016 & registered as a charity under Section 12AA of the IT Act.

Genesis

  • It was felt that NGOs lacked enough knowledge and skills to deal with markets and the surplus produce. As a result, farmers were compelled to sell their produce at a lower price. Hence, the need was felt to establish a knowledge and information hub — a forum for sharing, pooling knowledge, and building the capacity of members and farmers.
  • Outcome of a workshop on “Poor, Livelihoods and Market Development” held in Ranchi in 2005.
  • Fifteen organizations from Jharkhand — out of 54 from Odisha, Chhattisgarh, and West Bengal who were present — volunteered to carry forward the mandate.
  • Representatives of these organizations met periodically, forming a forum that came to be known as Vikas Bazar.Net.
  • The network “VB NET FOUNDATION” was formally registered in November 2016 under Section 8 of the Companies Act.
  • Currently, 19 NGOs are members of the organization, all operating within Jharkhand.
Vision

To be a vibrant, technologically advanced knowledge hub influencing and mobilising resources from the Government, institutions and individuals; enhancing the ability of member organization and other stakeholders to help the poor and marginalized farmers to access the markets gainfully.

  • To promote entrepreneurship, enhance information, knowledge and skills and strengthen services.
  • To establish linkages for mobilization of resources for VBN and partners.
